Reid A12 mentions three editions: 1st ed., 50 copies, white line engraving; 2nd ed., 40 copies, silhouette figures [the present copy]; 3rd ed., 10 copies, and on p.38 [citing Stols]: "The illustrations represent female figures which with a single clever line have been engraved in the block. In the first copies to be printed these illustrations were represented complete. In the second all the black part round the figure was cut away, a very risky experiment which turned out to be a complete success". Rare. Van Dijk 314. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE VI.
